The AVG Rescue CD is basically a
portable variant of AVG based on the
Windows PE platform. It is distributed
as a bootable CD intended for operating
system recovery in such an event where
the system cannot be loaded in the
regular way – for example due to
substantial virus infection. The AVG
Rescue CD incorporates the full scanning
power of AVG Anti-Malware, offering
extended protection to your personal
computer due to the Anti-Virus and the
Anti-Spyware components. Enabling you to
fully scan and heal infections on your
inoperable computer.
100% virus detection — AVG’s scanning engine has received
numerous awards for its excellent detection of “in the wild”
viruses, including the VB100% award. Its unique combination of
detection methods provides full protection against viruses, worms
and trojans.
Cutting-edge anti-spyware technology — Using the latest
state-of-the-art detection technology, AVG detects spyware, adware,
DLL-trojans, keyloggers, and much more. Malware hidden in data
streams, archives, or the Windows registry is also detected.
Automatic threat handling — AVG can automatically heal or
remove infected files and other threats such as trojans, worms and
spyware.
Multiple update options — Local AVG installation, hard
drive, directly through Internet-enabled LAN, or an external source
(flash drive etc.)
Administration tools — to repair and restore the system: AVG Command Line utility providing full command line access. AVG Registry editor tool for system registry processing. AVG IP Config tool for managing network settings. AVG Ping utility for testing the availability of network
resources (servers, domains, IP addresses). AVG Scan disk tool for analyzing and testing hard disk
integrity with optional automatic error correction. AVG Notepad utility for saving notes, editing system files
etc. freeCommander — two-panel file manager intended for more
experienced users. Map network drive utility to quickly and easily map a network
drive.
Important notice
The Microsoft Windows Preinstallation Environment software included with
this software may be used for boot, diagnostic, setup, restoration,
installation, configuration, test or disaster recovery purposes only.
As a security precaution, if your computer remains booted-up on the AVG
Rescue CD for 24 hours continuously, it will automatically re-boot
without prior notification.
Updating Virus Definitions
The
AVG Rescue CD allows updating from
within the application environment via
many sources including the Internet,
external USB drives, and the existing
definition files (if AVG is already
installed on the computer).
